Pre Tune Inspections
A Pre Tune Inspection may be required for your vehicle. We do this to save you money. Most of the cars that fall under the following categories have issues on the dyno and are not able to be completed in one dyno season. If we fix anything on the dyno it is at our dyno rate of $225 an hour, not our normal shop labor rate of $169 an hour.
If your vehicle falls under any of the following listed items we require a pre tune inspection.
- The vehicle can NOT drive on its own at 30+mph.
- The vehicle has a Aftermarket ECU.
- The vehicle has a aftermarket Forced Induction. I.E. The vehicle did not come from the factory with a Turbo or Supercharger.
- The vehicle has a engine configuration that it did not come from the factory with. This includes Engine Swaps (including JDM 2.0*) and Hybrid or Frankenstein engine builds.
- 2007 and older Subarus require a basic pre-tune inspection.
Our basic Pre-Tune Inspection includes the following and typically takes about 1 hour @ $169.00 an hour, if no major problems are found.
*This service is not offered on the same day of a scheduled tune. This gives us time to order parts or schedule time to fix bigger problems.
- Boost leak test
- Check Ethanol Content and Fuel Pressure at idle
- Check Front O2 Sensor is working properly
- Scan for Check Engine Lights
- Clean MAF (Mass Airflow Sensor)
- Check Condition of Engine Air Filter
- Check for large Exhaust Leaks
- Check Engine Oil Level/Condition
- Check Tire Pressure/Condition
- Check Battery is in good Condition for flashing ECU
- Check for Large Fluid Leaks
At additional cost we can perform the following:
- Replace Spark Plugs / Compression Test
- Change Engine Oil/Filter
- Remove Fuel Pump and confirm its rated to flow enough fuel for your power goals.
- This can be helpful if you bought your car already modded and are unsure what fuel pump is installed.

Note on tune appointments
A tune requires a $100 deposit to get on the schedule. Dyno pulls require a $50 deposit to get on the schedule.
Tune appointments will only be held for up to 30 minutes past the prior scheduled time. At that point we will move on to the next vehicle and you will have to reschedule your tune for a later date and pay another deposit fee.
The $100 tune deposit goes towards your tune time slot. This deposit is non-refundable and non-transferable. If you do not show up, show up more than 30 minutes late, cancel your tune, or reschedule your tune date and time then you forfeit that deposit. You will then have to pay a new $100 deposit to schedule your new appointment.
